The brief

Mwinilunga sits in the headwaters region, which raises the standard of proof on anything touching water. The assessment was built around the water balance: abstraction, process circuit, tailings, seepage and discharge, each quantified so that residual risk to downstream users could be argued from numbers instead of assurances.

Scope of work

  1. 01Catchment-scale surface water and hydrology baseline
  2. 02Groundwater characterisation and seepage risk assessment
  3. 03Process water balance across leaching and concentration
  4. 04Tailings and residue storage siting review
  5. 05Reagent handling, storage and spill containment
  6. 06Downstream user consultation and monitoring commitments
